[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Respite Care is giving the caregiver a break for a few hours or even a few days. Care giving can be all encompassing and if you don’t get some time away it can start affecting the caregiver both emotionally and physically. Most “In-Home Respite” care services are non-medical and are usually the same day / same person so routines and continuity of care can exist.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”RESPITE CARE DIRECTORY” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ff552b” custom_text=”#000000″ size=”lg” align=”center” i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-user-nurse” button_block=”true” add_icon=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]What type of patients use respite care?

- Children with chronic diseases and disabilities
Respite Care Options:
- In-Home – thru independent providers (Agencies & Referral Services)
- Community Locations or Adult Day Services
- Group Homes or Assisted Living Residences – usually for a night or even a couple of weeks.
Who pays for Respite Care?
- Medicare – will pay for 95% if the patient also qualifies for Hospice.
- Medicaid – will pay for 95% if the patient also qualifies for Hospice.
- Private Insurance – Depends on the plan
- Long-term Care Insurance – Usually but depends on the plan.
Action Steps: The best analogy for “respite care” is that when you are on a plane and the flight attendant instructs you to put the oxygen mask on yourself before trying to help a small child. The caregiver needs to make sure they are taking care of themselves (everything from nutrition to emotional needs).
Additional Information: Caregiver Support – There are many excellent caregiver support programs available and a good resource is your physician’s office. Churches and Hospitals are also good resources and these programs can include lectures or weekly small groups meetings that discuss issues / concerns. It is also good for the caregiver just to have something to look forward to each week.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][the_ad id=”5611″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
