Too Much Stuff? Bagster Update April 2020

Have you lived in the same house for ten, twenty, thirty or even forty years? There are many seniors who wake up one day and realize they just have too much stuff. One of the negatives of big houses is more storage and people generally will fill them up.

If you read any of the “unstuff” books out there, they usually concentrate on 3 groups (or piles) when trying to “clean out” basements, attics, garages and storage rooms:

  1. Donatable Items
  2. Things to throw away
  3. What to keep

There are many charity organizations that will pick up unwanted clothes, household items and etc which is great and convenient. Goodwill also accepts many items and usually have many convenient locations to drop items off.

The tough part is figuring out where to dump the items that just need to be thrown away. I would bet that you have seen neighbors with these big green bags at the bottom of their drive ways with “old stuff in them”. Waste Management started a great and convenient service called Bagster a few years ago and it is slick. You go to this website and you can find the price of the Bagster, where to buy it and how much it will cost to pick up and dispose of the Bagster (https://www.thebagster.com). The bags are around $30 at most local hardware stores and the cost  to pick up the gagster is $126 for the first bag ($110 for the 2nd one) where I live. You can dispose of most household items, contruction items, rocks, concrete blocks and much more. The big “no no’s” are tires, appliances and hazardous items. You buy the bag, place it at the bottom of your driveway and you start filling it up. When finished filling it up, you schedule the online pickup which is easy and done within 2 to 5 days.

The Bagster system hasn’t been stopped with the Covid-19 scare, it actually has seen sales increase. Now is a perfect time to clean out a room or two or tackle that basement/garage that is on your to-do list. You can do this whole process without any human contact. You can order the Bagster through Amazon below and then schedule pickup online or call the 800 ($8 more if you use the 800 #). Current price to pick up is $126.94 which does not include the $30 bag. Great deal, you can get 3,300 pounds of “stuff” to be taken away for less than $160 and you will feel great when you are done.
