Good estate sale companies have many contacts and experience in selling the many possessions that seniors collect throughout the years. When I interview estate sale contacts I am always amazed on the items they see as “valuable” and some items I would see as “high worth” have little if any value.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
“We can’t believe how much we received from the estate sale profits. We paid for Mom & Dad’s move to the senior living facility and added some $ to their savings which is great and the estate sale comapany did the work” I have heard this quote many times from seniors and their families after the estate sale process is over.

- Flu vaccine: Comes out annually and seniors need it ever year since it is never the same (covers different strains of influenza each year). You can get either a nasal vaccine or a shot in the arm and both products come in 3 or 4 strain formulations. There are some minor side effects but you will not get the flu from getting the flu shot. The vaccine arrives in late summer / fall and it’s good to be immunized before winter.
- Pneumonia Vaccine: There are now two pneumonia vaccines (PCV13 & PPSV23) and both are recommended once for seniors over 65. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the PCV13 first and then wait one year before you get the PPSV23. If you get the PPSV23 first then wait eight weeks or more to get the PCV13. There are differences between the two vaccines but the main difference is that PCV13 protects against 13 strains while the PPSV23 against 23 strains.
- Shingles Vaccine: Shingles is actually the reactivation of the chicken pox virus many years later. Anybody over 50 years old is recommended to get the shingles vaccine. The vaccine is both safe and effective. Shingles can be very painful and effects about a half million adults in the US annually.
- Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccine (Tdap vaccine): Most seniors do not realize when they get the Tetanus vaccination which is recommended every 10 years they are usually also getting a dose of both diphtheria and pertussis (whopping cough) vaccine. The small letters (in Tdap) mean that the senior is getting a smaller dose of the diphtheria and pertussis versus what a small child receives in their immunizations.
Action Step: The above vaccines are covered by Medicare part B (minus deductibles and coinsurance) so make sure that your healthcare provider bills Medicare.
Golden Nugget: Shingles is VERY painful! Talk to somebody that has shingles and most likely the first thing they will talk about is the pain and discomfort. The early symptoms will include fever, chills and an itching, stabbing pain from a rash. The rash will then turn into painful, fluid filled blisters that will eventually dry out and get crusty after a week to 10 days.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Additional Estate Sale Links” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%23000000″ use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_btn title=”Transitioning a Senior” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ff552b” custom_text=”#000000″ css=”.vc_custom_1591125501574{margin-right: 50px !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Senior Move Manager” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ff9529″ custom_text=”#000000″ css=”.vc_custom_1591125517450{margin-right: 50px !important;}”][vc_btn title=”Senior Real Estate Agent” style=”custom” custom_background=”#eeee22″ custom_text=”#000000″]

This YouTube video was produced by Southern Magazine and does a good job of showing how an estate sales works.
